The seventh Georgian Best Annual Report and Transparency Award (BARTA) ceremony was held in Tbilisi on February 9, 2026. The event recognized companies demonstrating strong non financial (sustainability) reporting practices in 2025 across three categories: large financial companies, large non-financial companies, and small and medium companies. 146 participants, representing government institutions, regulators, state owned enterprises, private companies, professional organizations, and partner institutions, celebrated the award winners and discussed emerging trends in corporate transparency and sustainability reporting.

The BARTAs, organized by a committee including representatives of the National Bank, the Insurance State Supervision Service, the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision, and the Accounting Reforms Stakeholders' Foundation, aim to encourage high quality reporting aligned with international and European standards. They are supported by the World Bank Centre for Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reform (CFRR) through the Enhancing Accounting, Auditing, and Sustainability Reporting (EAASURE) regional program, as part of work to promote good international practices and strengthening institutional cooperation. Davit Onoprishvili, Head of the Insurance State Supervision Service, noted “BARTA winners are companies with transparent financial reporting that stakeholders can trust. This is why so many companies participate in the competition and aspire to win.”

A panel discussion during the event examined Georgia’s evolving regulatory landscape for corporate governance and sustainability reporting, including early experiences with the Corporate Governance Code for issuers. Award‑winning companies shared practical insights into implementing governance frameworks and sustainability reporting, highlighting challenges related to data collection, policy review, and organizational capacity building. They recognized the role of the BARTAs in strengthening market confidence, with Archil Bakuradze, Head of the Supervisory Board of MFO Crystal, commenting that “the BARTA award demonstrates that corporate transparency is valued in Georgia and serves as a catalyst for developing an internationally trusted corporate sector.

Through continued support under the EAASURE program, the CFRR is helping to strengthen the BARTAs’ institutional foundations and ensure a well‑managed transition toward independent administration by the BARTA Committee by the end of 2027, reinforcing the awards’ long‑term sustainability and local ownership.
