This publication sets out four key areas where accountants need to update their knowledge to meet the growing demand for high-quality sustainability-related information. It speaks to the vital role accountants play in producing reliable sustainability-related data, reporting and assurance, as well as the importance of education and training in ensuring professional accountants are able to meet society’s needs.
Armenia - Toward Mandatory Sustainability Reporting
On October 23, 2025, key stakeholders in Armenia met to advance the country’s sustainability reform agenda. The roundtable, organized by the Ministry of Finance of Armenia with World Bank support under the EAASURE program, brought together fifteen representatives from government, including relevant line ministries and government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academics to examine policy options for introducing mandatory sustainability reporting.

The World Bank Center for Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reform (CFRR) held its 9th Ministerial Conference Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reforms: Navigating Green and Digital Agendas on March 18, 2025, in Vienna, Austria, organized under its three flagship regional programs: EAASURE, PULSAR, and REPARIS for SMEs with support from donors, including the Austrian Government, the Austrian Ministry of Finance, the Austrian Development Cooperation, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, and the European Union (EU).
