Sustainability reporting

The knowledge sharing event on "Good Practices in Audit Oversight and Enforcement: Insights from the Polish Agency for Audit Oversight" took place on October 3-4, 2023, in Warsaw. This event, organized by the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform, was part of the regional project The Road to Europe Program of Accounting Reform and Institutional Strengthening for Small and Medium Enterprises (REPARIS for SMEs).

On July 4^th, key stakeholders met in Pristina to discuss how to improve the approximation to the EU acquis in the field of accounting and auditing and strengthen the functionality of the public oversight system in Kosovo.

The workshop was hosted by the Georgian MOF. The event was attended by 96 participants from 12 countries, including 11 PULSAR beneficiary countries (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine), and Kazakhstan.

A National Conference “Strengthening Corporate Governance in Serbia: Sustainability Reporting and the Increasing Role of Audit Committees” was held in Belgrade, Serbia on May 11, 2023. The Conference was attended by members of audit committees of public interest entities and large state-owned enterprises, certified auditors, accountants, representatives of business associations, professional accounting associations, internal auditors, academia, totaling over 90 participants.

The world is seeing growing challenges that are affecting the real – and the financial economy, including banking and insurance companies. In the last two years, countries in Europe and Central Asia (ECA) are seeing the gains of ten years of reform and investment for inclusive growth and shared property drastically diminished by the Covid-19 pandemic, adverse climate events, and the war in Ukraine; these events have been disrupting supply chains and led more recently to rapid changes in prices of energy, food, and commodities, leading to inflation and rising interest rates.

A joint Accounting and Auditing Community of Practice (A&A CoP) workshop took place in Vienna, Austria on December 01, 2022. The event was organized under two flagship programs of the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR): Strengthening Auditing and Reporting in the Eastern Partnership (STAREP) and the Road to Europe Program of Accounting Reform and Strengthening Institutions for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (REPARIS for SMEs).

The Ministerial Conference “Financial and Sustainability Reporting for Debt Transparency and a Resilient Recovery” took place at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria, on November 30, 2022. It was organized by the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR), celebrating its 15th anniversary, and was hosted by the Austrian Ministry of Finance.

A World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR) Senior Officials’ Workshop took place in Vienna, Austria on November 29, 2022. It convened more than 140 high-level delegates of key CFRR programs, including senior government officials and policy makers from program countries, international development partners, professional and academic speakers, and experts from key international and European Union (EU) institutions.
