Armenia - Toward Mandatory Sustainability Reporting

On October 23, 2025, key stakeholders in Armenia met to advance the country’s sustainability reform agenda. The roundtable, organized by the Ministry of Finance of Armenia with World Bank support under the EAASURE program, brought together fifteen representatives from government, including relevant line ministries and government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academics to examine policy options for introducing mandatory sustainability reporting.

Advancing SME Sustainability Reporting: Webinars on Leveraging the Voluntary Standard for SMEs

The World Bank Centre for Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reform (CFRR), in partnership with EFRAG, hosted webinars on October 16 and 23, 2025, on the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (VSME). The webinars raised awareness among regulators, policymakers, market participants, SMEs, and other stakeholders in European Union (EU) accession and EU neighborhood countries on leveraging the VSME Standard to address key sustainability reporting challenges.

Regional Webinar Series to Strengthen Sustainability Reporting in ECA Region

In July 2025, the World Bank’s Center for Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reform (CFRR) successfully delivered a four-part webinar series aimed at enhancing sustainability reporting understanding across the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region. Each session attracted about 290 participants and featured dynamic, interactive discussions with participants actively posting questions, reflecting strong regional engagement and interest.

A Conference “Navigating Sustainability Reporting: European Union (EU) Requirements and Moldovan Integration” was held on June 03, 2025, in Chisinau, Moldova as part of the regional program Enhancing Accounting, Auditing, and Sustainability Reporting Program (EAASURE), co-funded by the Austrian Ministry of Finance, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADA).

The World Bank Center for Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reform (CFRR) held its 9th Ministerial Conference Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reforms: Navigating Green and Digital Agendas on March 18, 2025, in Vienna, Austria, organized under its three flagship regional programs: EAASURE, PULSAR, and REPARIS for SMEs with support from donors, including the Austrian Government, the Austrian Ministry of Finance, the Austrian Development Cooperation, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, and the European Union (EU).

A conference “Challenges and Achievements of Public Oversight in Improving Audit Quality and Financial Reporting” organized by the Public Oversight Board of Albania on November 19, 2024, in Tirana, Albania convened about 200 participants, representing professional accountants and auditors, academia, professional accounting associations, and various regulators, including the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Albania, Financial Supervisory Authority, and National Accounting Council.
