A CFRR workshop in Moscow on October 17 highlighted the changing role and requirements of professional accountants and auditors, and the strategic benefit in ensuring they acquire and maintain relevant knowledge, skills, and experience for a successful career in an increasingly global marketplace.
National initiatives for improving accounting education and strengthening professional accounting organizations (PAO) in Belarus were discussed at a workshop organized by the World Bank’s CFRR on September 20-21.

On April 5-6, 2017, the World Bank’s CFRR jointly with the Kyiv National Economic University organized the Workshop on the National Initiatives for Strengthening Accounting Education in Ukraine. The purpose of this one-day workshop was to disseminate the lessons learned at the regional Accounting and Auditing Education Community of Practice (EduCoP) with the local community of practice from Moldova, and to identify practical and workable solutions to strengthen education in accounting and auditing at both the university and professional levels.
Two workshops organized by the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR) to improve audit quality in Eastern Partnership countries — Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine — took place in Minsk, Belarus, from 10 to 12 October.
Around 40 experts and practitioners from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia took part in this regional workshop focusing on accounting education reforms. This was the sixth workshop to have been organized by the STAREP education community since 2014. Previous workshops have focused on the content of undergraduate accounting degree programs.
The accounting skills deficit in Africa limits the capacity to achieve effective public service delivery and private sector development. The public and private sectors have limited staff with adequate training in accountancy to perform internal controls, audits, and similar functions to prevent waste, misappropriation, and corruption and to foster financial transparency. The program is managed by Adenike Sherifat Oyeyiola, Practice Manager (EGVPF), and Edward Olowo-Okere, Global Director (EGVDR).
The Public Sector Accounting and Reporting (PULSAR) Program held a joint workshop on December 1, 2022, for members of its Communities of Practice: on Financial Reporting (FinCoP) and Education (EduCoP). The EduCop was also joined by the members of The Strengthening Auditing and Reporting in Countries of the Eastern Partnership (STAREP) Program. The workshop was organized by the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR) as part of events marking 15 years of CFRR activities.
