The seventh Georgian Best Annual Report and Transparency Award (BARTA) ceremony was held in Tbilisi on February 9, 2026. The event recognized companies demonstrating strong non financial (sustainability) reporting practices in 2025 across three categories: large financial companies, large non-financial companies, and small and medium companies.

The private equity market in the Western Balkans is at a very early stage of development and there is currently limited investment opportunity. The main source of financial capital available for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) throughout the region currently is through banks; by obtaining lines of credit, bank loans and other forms of debt. Alternative sources of capital are either non-existent or in very low supply.
Leaders Commit to the Development of High-Quality Financial Information to Help Boost Economic Development
About 300 delegates including ministers of finance, senior government experts, and representatives of the business, professional and academic communities gathered today to discuss the role financial information plays in supporting economic development, regional and global integration of economies, and convergence of income and living standards between poorer and richer countries. The conference took place under the auspices of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and was organized by the World Bank’s Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR).
